Call (254) 855-9885 See our ratesWest sits in the northern part of McLennan County, up Interstate 35 from Waco and just short of the Hill County line. That matters when someone is arrested, because it decides where they are taken: an arrest in West goes to the McLennan County Detention Center on East Highway 6 in Waco, not to the Hill County jail in Hillsboro.
The town is known across Texas for its Czech heritage and its bakeries, and it holds one of the largest concentrations of Czech Texans of any city in the state. On a Friday night the interstate traffic through it is heavier than the town’s own size suggests.
The West Police Department is at 210 West Pine Street. The McLennan County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Public Safety also work the area, and DPS in particular covers the interstate, where out-of-county warrants turn up on traffic stops more often than people expect.
West Municipal Court handles Class C misdemeanors and citations, which are settled with that court rather than through a bondsman. For a felony or a Class A or B misdemeanor, call us — and if an older warrant from another county is part of the picture, say so, because it changes what release looks like.
