What a McGregor arrest looks like

01

Arrest and transport

Police in McGregor, the McLennan County Sheriff and DPS all transport to the same detention center on East Highway 6 in Waco.

02

Booking

Fingerprints, photograph and property intake. This is where most of the waiting happens, and it is the stage nobody can shorten — including us.

03

Bail is set

Misdemeanors often follow a bail schedule and are known immediately. Felonies are set at magistration, usually within 24 hours of booking.

04

We post the bond

Once the amount is on the record and the agreement is signed, we file. Release then depends on the jail working through its queue.

McGregor sits in two counties

McGregor spans the line between McLennan County and Coryell County, at the junction of Highway 84 and Highway 317. That decides where someone arrested there is taken: the McLennan side goes to the McLennan County Detention Center on East Highway 6 in Waco, the Coryell side to the county jail in Gatesville.

Ask whoever called you which county the arrest was in. If nobody knows, give us the name and date of birth and we will check both. It takes a few minutes and it costs nothing, and it saves the most common wasted trip we see.

Who patrols McGregor, and what the local court covers

The McGregor Police Department covers roughly twenty square miles of city limits around the clock, with eight full-time commissioned officers plus school resource officers at McGregor ISD. The municipal court is at 302 South Madison Avenue.

That court handles Class C misdemeanors — citations, settled directly with it. We write bonds for felonies and for Class A and B misdemeanors, in either county, and we file as soon as the amount is set.
