What a Bruceville-Eddy arrest looks like

01

Arrest and transport

Police in Bruceville-Eddy, the McLennan County Sheriff and DPS all transport to the same detention center on East Highway 6 in Waco.

02

Booking

Fingerprints, photograph and property intake. This is where most of the waiting happens, and it is the stage nobody can shorten — including us.

03

Bail is set

Misdemeanors often follow a bail schedule and are known immediately. Felonies are set at magistration, usually within 24 hours of booking.

04

We post the bond

Once the amount is on the record and the agreement is signed, we file. Release then depends on the jail working through its queue.

Two towns, two counties, one city

Bruceville-Eddy is a single city formed from two communities, and it spans the line between McLennan County and Falls County. Its police and fire are based at 410 Hudson Lane on the Eddy side.

The county line decides the jail. An arrest on the McLennan side is booked into the McLennan County Detention Center on East Highway 6 in Waco; an arrest on the Falls side goes to the county jail in Marlin. Ask which county, or give us the name and date of birth and we will find out.

Interstate 35 changes the pattern

Bruceville-Eddy sits on I-35 between Waco and Temple, and an interstate town sees a different mix of arrests than one on a farm road. Traffic stops turn up out-of-county warrants, driving while intoxicated and possession charges more often.

That matters for timing: an out-of-county warrant can add a hold that a local charge would not, and someone can be bondable on one charge while still held on another. We will tell you which situation you are actually in before anything is signed.
